SUNDAY NOVEMBER 22 12 midday - 2 pm "Musicircus for children" by John Cage

With students from the ACEM (Associació Catalana d'Escoles de Música) and Escola Infantil i Juvenil de Circ at l'Ateneu Popular 9 Barris and students participating in the Merce Cunningham Dance Company workshop at the Institut del Teatre

Musicircus was first staged in1967 at the University of Illinois. It consists of a performance by a variable group of musicians, dancers and circus artists (as the name implies), who all act simultaneously, without being subject to any order or hierarchy among themselves, and with no distinction between the performers and the audience. The concept reflects Cage's fascination with having more than one centre and focus of attention, and with the possibility of combining different languages while still respecting their specificity. Following Cage's criterion of maximum flexibility, the version that we present here features music students, boys and girls, who will have the opportunity to experiment with new approaches to the sound phenomenon.

Coordination: David Albet
