We visit the workshop of the artist Sergi Aguilar Exclusive for Collection Friends and MACBA Friends

MACBA friends are invited to visit the workshop of Sergi Aguilar (Barcelona, 1946), an artist represented in the MACBA Collection. There, we will explore his work and his creative process.

Sergi Aguilar began his career as a sculptor at the beginning of the seventies but has incorporated new languages such as drawing, photography or video in the course of his artistic development. The thematic axes of his works have changed periodically throughout his career. His work reflects on the geometrization of nature, space understood as a container, emptiness as matter, the relationship of the physical with the senses, or the reading of territory, among other topics.

During this visit, Aguilar will also present “Open Studio”, a project with which he intends to gather specific proposals from other artists, in his workshop, to display them to the public outside the habitual spaces. We will be able to see the first proposal included in the project, a specific piece by Luz Broto.
