Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May 2015 are very special dates on this year’s cultural calendar: the Night of Museums and International Museum Day.

For the occasion, MACBA will hold an open day from 7 in the evening to 1 in the morning on Saturday 16 May, and from 10 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon on Sunday 17 May. As well as seeing all the current exhibitions, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of free activities for people of all ages. Our aim is to turn the Museum into a feast of culture and contemporary art on this special day.

NIGHT OF MUSEUMS Saturday 16 May, from de 5 pm to 1 am

MACBABOOKS From 10 am to 1 am Special sale of a large selection of MACBA publications at the unique price of 6 euros.

MACBA FOR FAMILIES Free From 5 to 9 pm Special workshop: What is MACBA? An unusual tour through the Museum galleries that offers a fun, interactive approach to contemporary art and addresses some of the questions that adults and children may have. The tour ends with an experimental activity.

HABITACIÓ 1418 From 5 to 9 pm Workshop exhibitions free From 7 pm to 1 am. Art & Language Uncompleted, Past Disquiet, Teatro proletario de cámara. Osvaldo Lamborghini, The Beast and the Sovereign, Pep Dardanyà. Car je est un autre, and The Immaterial Legacy. An Essay on the Collection.
In addition, our team will offer a presentation of all the exhibitions every half hour from 7 to 11.30 pm.

EXPERIENCE MACBA 7 pm ESMUC adds a soundtrack to the MACBA Collection For the first time, the ongoing collaboration between MACBA and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) has involved the school’s music composition students. The work carried out over the last few months in close collaboration with the Museum’s curatorial team has resulted in original compositions inspired by some of the works from the MACBA Collection that form part of the exhibition The Immaterial Legacy.

EXPERIENCE MACBA 9 pm Bebeto Cidra Dance Company presents Limits and Occupations. A Proposal for an Active Choreography An interactive piece inspired by the work of Cildo Meireles, in which the choreographer Bebeto Cidra transfers the Brazilian artist’s capacity to create works of great sensorial power into the world of dance. A show based on the concept of the limits of what we see and what we perceive, in the sense of physical or mental impositions that coerce the freedom of the individual.

TERRACE-BAR From 12 noon to 2 am MACBA will open a terrace-bar on the building’s podium, in front of the main facade. Take advantage of the chance to enjoy an exceptional spot in Barcelona on this special day.
