Les Ambassadeurs. Naceur Ktari, 1975, 102’, digital format, colour, Tunisia/France/Libya. Original version with Spanish subtitles.
«Each one of you is an ambassador, and we’re sure that each one of you will be the best ambassador for our country». Thus begins this fictional account of a migrant worker who discovers the exploitation, humiliation and racism to which North-African workers were subjected in France in the 1970s. Produced in 1975 by its director Naceur Ktari, the film won the Tanit d’or for best film at the 1976 Carthage Film Festival, the special jury prize at the Locarno International Film Festival, the same year, and was selected for the 1978 Cannes Film Festival in the category «Un Certain Regard».
