The Dart Festival and the MACBA are collaborating once again, this time to present the state premiere of the first documentary about David Wojnarowicz. The premiere will take place on the significant date of December 1st, World AIDS Day.

In Wojnarowicz: Fuck You Faggot Fucker, Chris McKim makes a collage-like exploration of the artist life, mixing his pictures, photos, movies, messages and recorded conversations with recollections from family and friends.

Dart is the meeting point for cinema and art in Spain and Latin America. It is the first documentary film festival dedicated to contemporary art whose main objective is to intertwine culture and knowledge with the general public. It accomplishes this through documentaries on photography, art curatorship, painting, performance, architecture, artistic movements and, in general, on contemporary art, with a particular focus on artists, their creative processes and the stories behind their work.

Chris McKim, Wojnarowicz: Fuck You Faggot Fucker. 2020, 105 min. In English with Spanish subtitles. USA.

As New York became the epicentre of the AIDS crisis, David Wojnarowicz’s art became angrier and franker, and his powerful way of seeing the world had an incredible impact on the fight for gay rights. In this collage-like exploration of his life, Chris McKim skilfully mixes his pictures, photos, movies, messages and recorded conversations with recollections from family and friends.
