Following Angela Davis’ arrest in October 1970, Jean Genet read on a TV programme, which would end up being totally censored, a text condemning the US racist politics, while supporting the Black Panther Party and Angela Davis.

 

Young Lord. Carole Roussopoulos, 1975, 59’, digital format. Original version with Spanish subtitles.

A young woman talks about «Young Lord», a social justice movement founded by members of the Puerto Rican community in New York. The film recounts the beginnings of the movement in 1969, when it modelled itself after black power and the Black Panthers. A radical political movement in support of the social demands of the Puerto Rican Community for better health and housing.

Les Mères espagnoles. Carole Roussopoulos, 1975, 59’, digital format. Original version with Spanish subtitles.

On 27 September 1975, five Basque militants were sentenced to death and executed by the Franco regime. Made a few days later, Ángel Otaegui’s mother explains how her son was arrested, the trial and his horrendous execution. Txiki’s mother reads a letter by her son describing the phantom trial, torture and murder. A film exemplifying the anti-fascist feminist struggles.
