Most MACBA publications accompany and complement the exhibitions we organise. In each case, they are defined by the exhibition project and include essays by curators and experts, explanatory texts, illustrations graphic material for reference, biographies, bibliographies and lists of works.

MACBA publishes books about its Collection. With more than six thousand works, the Collection forms the backbone of the Museum. Some publications offer a periodical revision of the Collection from historical and critical points of view, while others, in a smaller format, are books dedicated to particular works and subjects.

The MACBA rounds off its activities with a cultural and educational programme that bridges all of the Museum’s lines of work. The flow of thought generated by the seminars, lectures, film programmes and other activities is made available to the public through this series of books of essays.

Portable Notebooks is a line of publications distributed free of charge on the Internet and available on the MACBA website. Preferably published in the original language, the texts come from MACBA’s various activities: lectures, authors who participate in the PEI, artists whose practice involves the textual, essays from out-of-print catalogues, or other contributions from authors whose line of research is related to the Museum’s programming.

Quaderns d’àudio (Audio Notebooks) is a collection of texts about the Radio Web MACBA programme. It is intended to complement the radio channel’s line of work with the contribution of unpublished documents, presented in a PDF format that can be downloaded and printed.
