Imagining our return to the world

In 1974, Francesc Abad documented his daily commute from home to work and vice versa: eight working hours plus another two commuting between Terrassa and Barcelona. The result was the photo series Recorregut diari (Daily Journey). Although his aim was to highlight the precarious situation of artists and the difficulties they face in becoming professional, Abad’s images focus on everyday life and the way we relate to others, for example on public transport. Travelling by train, the anonymous fellow traveller with whom we share a carriage and the journey through the streets of the city bring our attention to the value of shared public spaces.
