South Breakwater under Construction, Port of Barcelona. Sèrie: "Connexions globals"

Between 2007 and 2008, MACBA commissioned a photographic project to document the industrial side of Barcelona and how it affected our ways of life and new urban structures. As part of this, David Goldblatt made the series Global Connections. This South African photographer focused on the zone around the Llobregat River, including the airport control tower, the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL), with trucks from all over Europe and the large industrial estate to be found in this area. He also photographed the farmers of El Prat and the Mercabarna wholesale market. They are all still working so we don’t run short of supplies.

To reconstruct the disorder of a possible city. To use the model, not as an element in a project, but as the representation of something that already exists.
