Amalia Pica "Procesión de Ocho", 2017

Freedom of assembly and other forms of collaboration are behind many of the proposals of Amalia Pica, an artist for whom art is a form of hope. For this Argentinean living in London, community and happiness are closely linked. Recently added to the MACBA Collection are her white banners on which the slogans and legends have been replaced by coloured pennants associated with children’s parties. In an interview conducted a few weeks before confinement, Amalia Pica linked her work to ‘the profound necessity we have to be together’.
