The seminar is divided into three epistemic-methodological sessions. The first one will focus on feminist epistemologies from the point of view of the theoretical tradition and the transformations required for any research work. The second session will concentrate on Donna Haraway’s theory of situated knowledges, while the third will take the form of a workshop centred on a specific research tool: ethnography and self-ethnography for the production of ‘corporal itineraries’, a research technique developed by the feminist anthropologist Mari Luz Esteban to investigate social reality from the perspective of the body.

Carmen Romero Bachiller is a feminist, doctor in Sociology and lecturer at the department of Sociology: Methodology and Theory of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has worked at the University of California, Santa Cruz, USA; Utrecht University, Netherlands; and Lancaster University, UK. Her main topics of research, on which she has published numerous essays, are bodies and practices as products of relational materiality, dealing with vulnerabilities and privileges from a feminist and queer intersectional perspective. She is currently working on the reconstruction of biomedical knowledge and the practices of activist collectives from a feminist perspective in the context of STS/STG studies, while also leading the research project ‘Feminist epistemologies and health activisms: emerging practices, care and knowledge in biomedical contexts’.
