William Kentridge: Ulysses’ journey into the human body

So begins Homer’s Odyssey, one of the most universal books in literature and an indispensable reference in the imaginary of travel. Hand in hand with William Kentridge, the physical journey becomes a voyage of discovery through the human body. This master of projected drawing constructs a visual story on three screens set to Beethoven’s music. Ulisse: Echo Scan, Slide, Bottle combines medical images such as scans, X-rays and MRIs, with anatomical engravings from the 16th and 17th centuries, photographs of cities and drawings of classical architecture. An immersive journey that invites us to renew our faith in the human condition while exposing its fragility.
