Prehistoric beings that dream of being excavators
‘In this time of multiplicity – deep and yet very superficial – there is no division between nature and culture. We are experiencing a totally hybrid stage where these types of divisions are no longer taking place. The elements that emanate from the Tuneladoras are hybrid fragments: pieces of beaks and fins of prehistoric beings that make up the subsoil, which seem very clean and very well designed at the same time, just like the machines that excavate and discover them. You could say these pieces are prehistoric birds dreaming of being excavators, or perhaps a hammer drill that thinks of itself as a bird.’
If you come to MACBA for Christmas, you will enter the imaginary time evoked by Teresa Solar Abboud with her large sculptures. As she explains in the catalogue accompanying the exhibition Teresa Solar Abboud. Bird Machine Dream, it is a mutating time in constant transformation. Prehistoric beings that have travelled to the future and tunnel boring machines that explore the seabed and invite our gaze to create their own space. Come and visit the Collection exhibition!

“Teresa Solar Abboud. Bird Machine Dream” immerses us in the journey of an artistic practice that since its beginnings has asked the same questions about the encounter between space and time, appealing to a contemporary, fragmentary and constantly moving subject.
