Poetic Intention is revised with new works

Here is a sample

From late January, you can see the new rehang of MACBA Collection: Prelude. Poetic Intention. New works have been introduced, which will establish a dialogue with the rest of the works in the exhibition, without losing the original sense of the project.

Ignasi Aballí’s chromatic display cases occupy the first gallery space, followed by Francesc Torres’ lesser-known early work exploring signs and semantics, the aquatic piece Sculptura; the visionary calligraphy of Henri Michaux; and Isidoro Valcárcel Medina’s experimental film La celosia (Jealousy), which, as far back as 1972, invalidated all the cinema conventions. Also featured are works by Antoni Tàpies highlighting the importance of signs in his matter paintings. The second section focuses on the city of Barcelona photographed in the 1990s by Manolo Laguillo and Craigie Horsfield, and by Xavier Ribas in the 2000s. Lúa Coderch deflates her onyx wall as an emblem of architectural modernity, while Yamandú Canosa presents his unstable Europe. We will publish more on all the works in due course, but here is a sample for now.
