Jana Sterbak, Alexander Calder and Alberto

During the last twenty-five years, the works in the MACBA Collection have travelled the world. In both highly prestigious and lesser known institutions, they have been exhibited across the five continents.

Among the more than eight thousand loans made by MACBA, the most travelled works to this day are: Jana Sterbak’s large aluminium crinoline manipulated by remote control, as a way of denouncing the invisible control mechanisms to which we are submitted; Alexander Calder’s stabiles, created during his stay in Barcelona on the invitation of Joan Miró; and the figures or abstract sculptures by Alberto, a key artist of the Spanish avant-garde.
