Creating a Third Viewpoint

Adrian Melis on the Night of the Museums

‘I was interested in this idea that when you watch a lot of videos on YouTube or the social platforms, all the information you receive about everything that is going on comes to you in the form of a documentary, a newsreel or a film. And what interested me most was to combine two events through a series of images and sounds that are seemingly totally unrelated, yet can create a third viewpoint.’

Keep the evening of 17 May free to visit the Capella MACBA. From our Collection, on the Night of the Museums we will be screening multiple works by Adrian Melis. We won’t say any more for now: find out for yourself, when your senses will be transported to different key moments in recent history that have changed the world. Melis establishes a dialogue between different geopolitical contexts in a global world and their own paradoxes and discordances. ‘I simply put together images and sounds that are not related but could be. You tell me how.’ You can hear the artist’s explanation in an interview for Ràdio Web MACBA.
