La Mercè in the MACBA Collection

For the festival of La Mercè, Jordi Colomer will perform an action with giants at the Plaça dels Àngels. An open day when you can visit the Museum for free and get to know the works from the MACBA Collection included in the exhibition about Jordi Colomer. One such case is his Anarchitekton, a playful and performative reflection on the idea of the city, one of the key topics in the work of this artist. In a multi-screen installation, Colomer shows a character running around neighbourhoods in different cities in the world. The character is Idroj Sanicne, a multidisciplinary artist and collaborator of Colomer, who traverses those cities contaminating the streets with fiction. In recordings made between 2002 and 2004, we see him going through Barcelona, Bucharest, Brasilia and Osaka, running past urban buildings holding up cardboard models of those buildings, in the manner of sculptural placards. With Surrealist and Situationist resonances, Colomer and his character invite us to relocate the city within the city, the one we dream of and the one we inhabit, the one we inherit and the one we project into the future. Because La Mercè at MACBA is a big fiesta. Come and join us!
