And thirty! Here we close our MACBA 30 years journey
We bring to an end this long series that has guided us over thirty weeks. One by one, we have revisited some of the notions in which the MACBA community seeks to recognise itself. A community of communities, and a series that we close with the word that gathers them all: THIRTY. Every Wednesday, we have set the works from the Collection in motion through the thirty concepts that celebrate the 30 years of MACBA. Desire, year zero, persistence, tension, queer…
DESIRE was the first, with the life-dreams enacted by the magical hand of Ramon Guillen-Balmes and the everyday small deaths of Mexican women compiled by Mireia Sallarès. YEAR ZERO took us to the first film in history, Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory in Lyon, reinterpreted by Harun Farocki. We celebrated PERSISTENCE with the 101 ages of life faithfully portrayed by Hans-Peter Feldmann. TENSION lifted us up a ladder reaching for the sky in one of Gordon Matta-Clark’s risk actions, recorded by Cherica Convents. The series closed with the universe of QUEER, which allowed us to listen to the murmurs of the rooms of the Collection exhibition.
Thirty proposals in a flight of infinite intersecting lines traced by the works of MACBA that you can revisit here.
