Zush. La campanada

He started out as Albert Porta (1946) before becoming Zush. And then, in 2001, in the context of the MACBA exhibition La campanada, he changed into Evru – an identity that he defined using the neologism ‘ArtCieMist’, a mix of the Spanish words for artist, scientist and mystic. In 1968, the power and versatility of this Catalan artist led him to create a universe with its own state: Evrugo Mental State, with an alphabet, language, constitution, map, anthem, flag, passport and currency, Zush draws on a range of artistic practices, from painting and sculpture to digital creation and performance, to explore human nature – the limits of the body and the mind, the invisible energy that runs through us – and the concepts that condition our behaviour. The catalogue includes texts by Antonio Monegal, José Antonio Millán and Ángel González, among others.
