In the late seventies, the film production of Pere Portabella took two directions. Firstly, towards an experimental cinema that undermines the classic canon of narrative by pushing the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Secondly, he produced short films linked to an institution or organization and stylistically related to the Catalan avant-garde tradition. Within this last category, three shorts films stand out, all of them financed by the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Barcelona and made on the occasion of the exhibition of Joan Miró held at the college in 1969. One of them is Aidez l'Espagne, focused on the Spanish Civil War and which you can see in the permanent exhibition of the MACBA Collection.
