Inflatable Structure Containing Fog, 1969
Photograph,
9 x 9 cm
In the mid-sixties, before his work turned
towards installation and a critical reflection on
power and the collective memory, Francesc
Torres made a series of minimalist works based
on simple forms and natural elements. His
inflatable structures belong in this context. On
one occasion, he submitted a bubble full of air
that had turned slightly green to the effects of
the waves. On another, he filled a large inflatable
structure with fog. In both these works, elements
such as gravity, sea water and air interact with
the pieces according to the logic of the laws of
nature.
