‘For La casa we decided to work on a particular case reflecting the dynamics of competitiveness in Badia del Vallès. The only “liberated” flat in a town where one hundred percent of apartments are social housing.’ Thus, Pedro G. Romero begins his video Archivo F.X.: Entrada: La casa. Ciutat Badia, or Badia del Vallès, is a new town designed for workers who, in the sixties, immigrated to the metropolitan area of Barcelona from the south of Spain. Located on the outskirts of Barcelona, this housing estate is a powerful example of the problems of the modern city and its class divides. While historical urban centres become tourist theme parks and the upper class occupy residential areas, the banlieu remains the habitat of the most disadvantaged immigrants. Archivo F.X. is part of the Empty City project, a critique of the political construction of the modern city.

Being the only apartment in this area subject to the dynamics of the free market, Pedro G. Romero asked the dancer Israel Galván to create a dance or series of gestures to mark this exceptional condition in the context of Ciutat Badia. Dressed in a Barça shirt, the dancer demarcates, with a Sevillian dance, the various rooms – small and typical of the aesthetic of the seventies – of the apartment.
