Diametral, 1977

Diametrical, 1977
Object, 17 x 34 x 10 cm.

Jordi Pablo’s reflection on the object is developed as a study of forms. Play, tautology, paradox, pleasure and philosophical concepts are present as the foundation guiding meaning. We are also called to read the poetic aspect contributed by language, with titles that often refer to visual poetry. “Modern sculpture must be understood in the measure of its abstraction, as a veritable ‘grammar’ of forms”, explained Pablo in 1975, in the book Cossos, formes i objectes a l’espai [Bodies, Forms and Objects in Space]. His theoretical work and morphological studies employ a broad variety of humble materials, from natural objects like branches and leaves to manufactured materials like plastic, paper or ceramics, in the quest for a renewed artistic and conceptual dimension of the object.
