A Forest, 2019
Contrary to what it may seem, these are not photographs of a undergrowth, but rather images created by a Deep Neural Network of Artificial Intelligence when asked to represent itself. Unexpectedly, at the request for a self-portrait, the system created rhizomatic images, rather than anthropomorphic ones. Asked documents what can we might term the first AI selfies. In the captions, Max de Esteban reproduces fragments of the essay that first proposed the algorithm based on which deep neural networks have been designed.
