Cos, 1981
Body, 1981
Painting,
45 x 232 cm
This piece forms part of Frederic Amat's work during the time he spent in New York in the early eighties. Amat collected cardboard boxes from the street, applying different techniques to build enigmatic gestural-like works. Cos is a self-portrait: a recumbent human body as an eroded ochre landscape. Taking painting as a field of experimentation, Amat inked his body on four pieces of paper and worked it with paper pulp and wax.
