Fito Conesa studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, the city where he lives and works. His multifaceted work encompasses installation, video and sound exploration, pushing the limits between disciplines and opening up new possibilities. Some of his works are conceived as exhibitions based on himself and his own geographic origins, while others incorporate all kinds of elements from cultural history and the contemporary world (filmography, musical references, historical figures, digital identities, etc.), or can be seen as dissections of the everyday. In all of them, Conesa builds layer upon layer of meaning and reading, in a game of challenging semantics. He gives great importance to the narrative powers of sound and its capacity for representation. Keen on experimentation, his works often reverse the normal processes of sound and image production with musical pieces that function as site-specific projects or sound interventions in meaningful geographic contexts. Rather than videos or musical pieces, they offer the experience of travelling with sound.

Since 2008, Conesa has held exhibitions in the Aparador Museu Abelló, Mollet del Vallès (2008), Caixaforum, Tarragona (2009), Centro Cultural de España,  Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2014), La Naval de Cartagena (2015) and Espai 13, Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (2018). In parallel, he also gives lectures and has conducted workshops in art education at La Panera, Lleida; Fundació “la Caixa”, Barcelona; Caixaforum, Madrid; and MACBA, Barcelona. His work is included in the collections of Fundació Banc Sabadell, Universidad de Granada, Ajuntament de Valls and MACBA, Barcelona.
