Cabello/Carceller (grup d'artistes)

Helena Cabello: Paris, France 1963; Ana Carceller: Madrid, Spain, 1964

Helena Cabello and Ana Carceller have worked together since 1992. Both trained in Fine Arts in Madrid, the city where they work and live, and they are currently teaching in the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cuenca. Their work uses installation, performance, video, writing and drawing to question the hegemonic modes of representation in visual practices and provide critical alternatives. Some of their topics of interest include the social construction of identity and sexual and gender policies. Their collaborative projects incorporate minority voices to highlight the paradoxes of the liberal production system and the way of life that it promotes. The idea of storytelling and narration, language, thought and architecture are placed at the service of social criticism.
