Supervihvents is an informal network of people belonging to the first generations of diagnosed people. It was born in 2018 as a result of the unease in perceiving that our – in many cases – unusual and complex biopsychosocial realities tend to stay invisible and/or neglected in a context of growing triumphalism and the banalization of HIV infection.
We believe in the empowerment of people living with HIV as the driving force for their emancipation and autonomy. Likewise, we argue that the perspective of the person living with HIV should be expressed and/or elaborated by the very people living with HIV, without intermediaries.
We project ourselves as ‘superVIHvientes’ (HIV survivors, in Spanish) with the capacity for self-determination and an autonomous and fulfilling life in every sphere. We seek to assert our survival, experience, resilience and sense of community, and to make these qualities available not only to the HIV community, but to society at large.
