PhD in Science (Chemistry) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the UPC since 2003 and Director of the Centre Català del Plàstic (CCP) since 2007 (www.upc.edu/ccp). Head of the consolidated research group (SGR) Ecological and Biodegradable Polymers and Composites (eb-Polycom). Author of around 140 articles in indexed journals (JCR) that have received more than 3,700 citations to date.
She has developed her research career in the field of the science and technology of plastic and composite materials, studying the relationship between processing, structure and properties, mainly mechanical properties and fracture behaviour. She has worked as principal investigator (PI) of competitive R+D projects funded by different European, Spanish and Catalan organisations. Currently, her research focuses on two lines: a) modification of biopolymers, by means of different strategies, with the aim of extending the industrial applications of these materials, and b) reuse of polymeric waste (thermoplastics and rubbers) focused on durable and high added value applications. In these same areas, she has directed technology transfer projects for companies in the sector. She has directed R+D projects for companies in the field of plastic recycling and waste revaluation and also for companies in the field of bioplastics.
