Laura Vallés Vílchez is a curator, editor and researcher whose work explores the intersections of art, pedagogy and curatorial discourse. In 2022, she earned her doctorate from the Royal College of Art in London, where she currently resides. There, she teaches curatorial studies and led the European initiative 4Cs: From Conflict to Conviviality through Creativity and Culture. Her teaching career began with a grant from Fundación Botín, and she has since deepened her educational outreach as co-founder and director of Concreta, an independent publishing house known for its magazine and book series. Concreta thrives at the intersection of education and public discourse, drawing from Laura’s previous roles at institutions such as Afterall in London, a publishing project affiliated with Central Saint Martins, where she worked in 2009, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago in 2010. As a curator, Laura has organized a series of expositions, such as “Te toca a ti” (EACC, 2018), “15.600 Días. Xisco Mensua” (CCCC, 2019), “A través de la arena” (Azkuna Zentroa, Artium y CentroCentro, 2019-20), “Mitos del futuro próximo” (TEA, 2019-20), “Teresa Lanceta: Tejer como código abierto” (MACBA-IVAM, 2022-23) and “Larruak eta izurrak” (Tabakalera, 2024). She has given lectures at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Arts, SOAS, the University of Granada, and UPV. She has also translated works by authors such as Isabelle Stengers, Donna Haraway, Moyra Davey and Paul B. Preciado.
