Born in Lleida in 1966, Jordi Bernadó lives and works in Barcelona. After studying architecture, his photographic production became linked to architecture and travel. Bernadó photographs buildings, landscapes and cities of the world in a supposedly documentary manner with an ironic and often tongue-in-cheek language. While his images apparently capture things as they are, his framing transforms reality into a theatrical scene. His series made in Europe, Asia and the United States contain reflections on the notions of truth and lies in photography. References to Goya are evident in some of his works, where an idea of the grotesque is used to denounce the contradictions of the contemporary world.

Since the 1990s, he has had solo exhibitions at the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya in Tarragona, Lleida and Barcelona (2001, 2003 and 2004), Sala Montcada, Fundació ”la Caixa”, Barcelona (2002), Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki (2006), Centre d’Art La Panera, Lleida (2007), Buenos Aires Photo (2011) and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, Barcelona (2014). Collections include North Carolina Museum of Art; MUSAC, León; Fundació ”la Caixa”, Barcelona; Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; Centre d’Art La Panera, Lleida; and MACBA, Barcelona. He has published more than twenty books of photography.
