He is a lawyer with a focus on human rights as well as an academic in literary theory and comparative literature. He lectures in Literary Theory at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is a researcher at the Colegio de Jurisprudencia la Universidad San Francisco de Quito. His research focuses on the analysis of literary and cultural texts about gender, decoloniality and anti-racism, in addition to the relationship between literature and law. He has written several monographs and specialised publications on queer and cuy-r sexual dissidence, on the cultural construction of the contemporary Andes and on Latin American immigration to the Kingdom of Spain and Catalonia. He is part of the anti-colonial movement in Barcelona. He was awarded the 2016 Casa de las Américas essay prize.
