Carien van Aubel is an independent conservator specialising in modern and contemporary art working in both the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Her studio is based in London, where she works on various projects for private collectors and museums. She received her postgraduate training in conservation at the University of Amsterdam and holds a MSc in Chemistry. Her research focuses on the identification of plastics used in artworks. She worked together with Olivia van Rooijen on Project Plastics and Smelly Plastics, and together they give Plastic Identification Workshops internationally.
