Bernat Daviu studied at Central Saint Martins, London. His work encompasses painting, video, costume design, food and performance. Both his images and performances are built with multiple layers of meaning that refer to the fusion between art and life, between personal experiences and anonymous stories. Often ironic and with connotations of the absurd, his work reflects on artistic modernity, mixed with elements of everyday life. His interest also lies in the shifts of meaning created by time and context. Another important aspect of his work is activation, as witnessed by his collaborations with dancers, filmmakers and other creators.
Daviu’s solo shows include Studio 1, London (2010), Uma certa falta de coerencia, Porto (2014), LOOP Festival, Barcelona (2016), Fundació Arranz-Bravo, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona (2017) and Mataró Art Contemporani (2021). He has held performances at MACBA, Barcelona (2017), Arts Santa Mònica, Barcelona (2018), Caixaforum, Madrid (2019) and Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona (2021). His work is included in the MACBA Collection, Barcelona.
