Antonio Gagliano was born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1982. He has a BA in Fine Art from the Universidad Nacional, Córdoba, and an MA in Critical Theory and Museum Studies from MACBA's Independent Study Programme (PEI). Both as a writer and as an artist, his work combines artistic practice and research, using drawing and writing to explore the multiple ways in which knowledge is produced, organised and disseminated.
He had a solo exhibition at Espai 13, Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona, 2014, and has taken part in collective exhibitions at MACBA, Barcelona, 2020; WKS Querungen, Stuttgart, 2017; Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Ghent, 2017; and Tabakalera, San Sebastián, 2016. His drawings have appeared in publications such as Der Spiegel and La Vanguardia, and in essays such as Pornotopia. An Essay on Playboy's Architecture and Biopolitics (Paul B. Preciado, MIT Press, 2014). He is the author of El espíritu del siglo XX (Album, 2014) and Estado de la técnica/Stand der Technik (Verlag für Handbücher, 2019). He collaborates regularly as editor and producer of Son[i]a at Radio Web MACBA.
