Born in Banyoles in 1941. With a degree in Philosophy and Art History and a PhD in Audiovisual Communication, he has devoted his career to expanding audiovisual and multimedia practices in contemporary art, not only as a historian, exhibition curator, director, adviser and project coordinator, but also as an audiovisual and multimedia producer.
He has given lectures in the United States, France, Germany, Brazil and Argentina, and has directed courses at the Universitat Catalana d’Estiu, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Very active in the avant-garde visual arts scene, he was a member of the groups Machines (1964–1966) and Grup de Treball (1972–1976). He was also a founding member of the Societat Catalana de Comunicació at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans. He has been adviser and coordinator of the Caixaforum Media Library in Barcelona, coordinator of the European project GAMA and director of the European project Vivid [Radical] Memory. In recent years he has been a senior lecturer in Audiovisual Communication at the University of Barcelona.
His works can be found in both MACBA and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía collections. He is co-author of the first book on video art published in Spain, “En torno al vídeo” (published by Gustavo Gili in 1980 and by Universidad del País Vasco in 2010). He was the opening speaker for the 1995 Banyoles city festival, in which he offered a highly innovative audiovisual and multimedia-based opening speech.
