With a background in artistic photography, art, design, literature and museography, Alán Carrasco (Burgos, 1986) has developed an artistic practice that is closely linked to his theoretical research. His work focuses on the mechanisms used to construct official narratives, paying special attention to power strategies such as the selective induction of memory or the function of iconoclasm. He is especially interested in what has been relegated to the margins of historical storytelling and the motives behind this systematic omission, as well as the notions of veracity or plausibility applied to historical narratives.
He has been exhibiting regularly since 2014, taking part in numerous group exhibitions. His solo exhibitions include Galeria ADN, Barcelona (2019, 2022 and 2024), Centro de Arte Caja de Burgos (2022), Centro Cultural de España, Montevideo (2023), and Centre Cívic Bon Pastor, Barcelona (2024). He took part in the BIENALSUR of Argentina (2025), and of Cúcuta, Colombia (2019).
