A hybrid, collective show in which the Jiménez brothers offer cultural criticism, live cinema, movement and digital folklore to revive the audiovisual memory of the fiftieth anniversary of the death in bed of dictator Francisco Franco.

With humour, satire, electronic music, flamenco and the appropriation of film archives as tools, Pedro and Benito Jiménez invite choreographers and contemporary dance professionals Juan Luis Matilla, Laura Morales, Teresa Garzón and Paula Quintana to perform live and recorded, in a show that uses a big screen as an essential tool, in an identifying trait of these Andalusian artists.

Los Voluble revisit the issues that have formed part of their creations since the nineties and review their personal archive with a critical, antimilitaristic perspective. They start out from the so-called democratic transition in Spain to interpret a present conditioned by techno-oligarchies and identify the ambivalences of any democratic state: wars, disinformation, corruption, genocide and video surveillance, but also social movements, LGTBIQ+ and feminist struggles, and a cultural and festive explosion.

They are joined for the occasion by choreographer, dancer and musician Juan Luis Matilla, with important hybrid creations like Boh! and Sad Dance Therapy; the know-how of creator and dancer Laura Morales, winner of accolades for work like El último Acto de Fe; the stage skills of actress, dancer and creator Teresa Garzón, director of María de Buenos Aires; and the infinite curiosity of researcher and performer Paula Quintana, whose milestones include the trilogy Atlas de Anatomía.

Total Democracy is a production by Los Voluble and the España en Libertad – 50 Años project, coordinated by the Special Commissioner and the State Secretariat for Democratic Memory.

In partnership with the Andalusian Agency for Cultural Institutions, Menudo Teatro, El Viso de Alcor City Council (Seville province), Réplika Teatro, GREC Festival and MACBA.

With a career spanning nearly two decades, Los Voluble work with remixing, live cinema, digital folklore and political remix video. Their heterodox interpretation of flamenco, fiesta and the purism of electronic music became known with Raverdial, premiered at Sónar festival in 2015, and has continued to make an impact with Flamenco Is Not a Crime, premiered in 2020 at the flamenco festival in Nimes. Their repertoire includes shows devoted to frontiers and migrations, such as Borderhack (2016), and productions for the Museo Reina Sofía, such as El 92 cava con todo (2022). In 2023 they brought JALEO IS A CRIME, somewhere between rave and flamenco fiesta, to the Grec festival, with screen included. Los Voluble have worked with contemporary artists in a range of fields, including Rocío Molina, Raúl Cantizano, Eduardo Guerrero, Rocío Márquez, Juan Carlos Lérida, Alicia Acuña, Niño de Elche, Alex Peña, Pony Bravo and Mucha Muchacha, with projects like La Costilla de Rocío (seen at the CCCB in 2018), Carta Flamenca a Nam June Paik (flamenco and video art, 2015) and Turismo sin fin (2015). Sound, visual and conceptual research and experimentation form part of the narrative running through their AV shows. In 2025 they premiered the production La Voz de Alarma and started a new Archivo Flamenco, in which they explore the possibilities and legacy of the audiovisual documentation of contemporary flamenco.
