The Touching Community
At the end of 2015, Aimar Pérez Galí undertook an investigation into the impact that the AIDS epidemic had on the dance community in the Spanish and Latin American context. Appropriating the practice of Contact Improvisation, pioneered by Steve Paxton, that work is constructed as a dialogue with the ghosts of those who disappeared.
The Touching Community is an intimate and emotional work about memory, about the dancers who stopped dancing too soon; about a community that built itself strongly at a time of great weakness; and about touch and contact as survival tools. But above all it is a work that speaks of love, of change, and of fear.

Aimar Pérez Galí develops his artistic practice in the field of dance and live arts as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, researcher and writer, always understanding the body as a place of reference and dance not as an end in itself but as a tool for critical transformation.
This activity is part of the Hacer historia(s) vol. 3 programme, a project organised by La Poderosa that aims to bring the archive of ideas and experiences of the past into contact with the present to, through dance, the body, the archive, memory, identity and language, reflect on the power of subjectivity when addressing history and first-person narratives.
