The suitcase of Antoni Tàpies at MACBA
MACBA joins the celebrations for the centenary of Antoni Tàpies’s birth with the performance of the work by Giacinto Scelsi Ko-Lho (1966), for flute and clarinet. The concert will be set in the galleries of the exhibition MACBA Collection: Prelude. Poetic Intention, which has recently included two works by Tàpies, Paisatge blanc i negre I [Black and White Landscape I] (1985) and Dues creus negres [Two Black Crosses] (1973).
The piece will be performed by the musicians Andrea Pérez and Carlos Isla, students at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).
This summer, two outstanding works from the MACBA Collection were added to the exhibition MACBA Collection: Prelude. Poetic Intention. Both are exemplary of the conceptual and visual range of Tàpies’s work, while confirming his fundamental contributions to art informel and its semiotic spirituality. The works are found near the permanent Tàpies display associated with the museum building, which since 1998 has been the MACBA entrance access.
