Talk between Rita McBride and Bartomeu Marí
Oferta pública /Public Tender is certainly a major monographic exhibition by Rita McBride, but it is also a complex project involving several interrelated features and multiple agents throughout the process: from the selection of pieces and the production of the catalogue (preface by Bartomeu Marí and texts by Luis Fernández Galiano and Mark Wigley, as well as a photographic essay by the artist Anne Pöhlmann), to the Blind Dates series, which invites artists to temporarily work from, for, or around the space of McBride’s Arena (a long-term loan to MACBA).
The spatial arrangement of her pieces is not an accidental or secondary matter for McBride, but rather constitutes a key part of her working process. Hence, their curation is necessarily a complex process requiring a joint effort. This conversation between Rita McBride and Bartomeu Marí – director of MACBA and curator of Oferta pública / Public Tender – will be an opportunity to talk about Rita McBride’s work, and about the process of putting together this exhibition
