Post-Barcelona Gallery Weekend Route: Three Exhibitions, Three Galleries
Exclusive activity for MACBA and Collection Friends
We propose a route involving dialogue between three exhibitions in Barcelona Gallery Weekend, with visits led by the staff of the galleries. A perfect chance to explore the contemporary art scene in the city.
Barcelona Gallery Weekend is a major annual event, with more than fifty artists and some twenty galleries taking part in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Organised by Art Barcelona, this event highlights the role of galleries as places for knowledge, experimentation and meetings.
This year, thanks to the collaboration of Art Barcelona, MACBA Friends will have the chance to enjoy an exclusive guided tour visiting three exhibitions opened as part of BGW. The visit will take place the week after the event, in a more relaxed context that will allow a close-up experience, with time to listen and talk to the gallery staff at first hand.
The route will include:
— ProjecteSD, with O Jogo da Glória (The Game of the Goose), an exhibition that sets out from a mural by Ana Jotta, intended as a setting in which to present other creations by the artist and by her American contemporary Allen Ruppersberg.
— Zielinsky, with an exhibition devoted to the sculptures by Amparo Tormo, created with industrial materials. In these pieces, the artist duplicates planes, turns orders upside down and fills gaps using reflective surfaces, creating interplays of perception and illusion.
— Victor Lope, with The Architecture of Power, an exhibition bringing together for the first time a selection of pieces from the most significant series by artist Kepa Garraza.
Each visit will be led by the staff of the gallery in question, who will offer a closer look at the work of curating and the artists’ creative processes.
