Pièce distinguée n°45
The Pièces distinguées are a concept developed in the early nineties by La Ribot, fragmenting her discourse on contemporary dance in a new choreographic format based on brevity and focused on the long term, since its purpose was to create a hundred such pieces throughout her life. To date she has created 53, titled, numbered and presented in five series/performances: 13 Piezas distinguidas (1993), Más Distinguidas (1997), Still Distinguished (2000), PARAdistinguidas (2011) and Another Distinguée (2016).
Pièce distinguée n°45 is the only Pièce distinguée that does not belong to a series/performance. On this occasion, it includes the participation of actor Juan Loriente, with whom La Ribot has collaborated since 1993. It is a unique action, like a death foretold where the act of loving, the death wish and the painterly gesture merge in a paradox that confronts contemplation and violence.
