Opening performance of Lunar Ensemble for Uprising Seas, an installation by Petrit Halillaj & Álvaro Urbano
More than 40 large-scale sculptures representing aquatic, terrestrial and aerial creatures, hybrid and eccentric, that do not exist in the real world are the protagonists of this installation that unfolds in the atrium, one of the most emblematic spaces of the MACBA.
At the opening performance, Halilaj and Urbano’s creatures will come to life through the interaction of local and international artists and musicians. All together, they will play a song inspired by the children’s song ‘Ay, mi pescadito’ and by underwater sounds. The challenging synchronization between both melodies will be the highlight of the activation, generating a sonic and underwater echo that will enter into dialogue with the museum’s very surroundings.
We invite you to visit the installation for free on Friday 11 October, during a special open day to mark its opening.
Musicians: David Mormeneo, Javier Delgado Perez, Joan Piles, Luis Eduardo Busto Pineda, Maria Cofan Esteba, Núria Andorrà, Pol Ribó Vivancos and Tomás Tena Muñoz.
Performers: Adam Purtí del Ruste, Anahia Castro, Èric Pons i Larroy, Guillem Albasanz, Mamadou Diallo and Nia Torres.
