MURMURS V: Dora García, 50 Years, 32 Minutes, 10 Millennia
An action for Year Thirty at MACBA and the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Miró
As part of Murmurs, a programme that works with displaced artists, latent narratives and non-linear timelines, Dora García presents 50 Years, 32 Minutes, 10 Millennia, an intervention created on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Miró and Year Thirty at MACBA. Rather than a commemorative approach, this action represents a critical reflection on institutional time and its layers of memory to activate the city as a living archive.
Dora García’s piece takes the form of a short collective pilgrimage that connects the two institutions through walking, words and the accumulation of historical, cultural and political milestones. Along the way, an expanded chronology is deployed, tying together biographies, local and global events, episodes of violence, resistance and cultural creativity, from the late 19th century through to projections of a remote future. Like this, the journey becomes a performative practice that reveals how history forms a sediment in bodies, places and shared narratives, offering a reading of the part that is neither linear nor closed, but a field that is constantly reactivated.

MACBA Thirty
We celebrate Year Thirty of an infinite MACBA that projects the future as a space for revision and possibility: of taking up what was left unfinished, updating what needs it and projecting anew everything that can still be transformed.
