Let’s visit the exhibition Teresa Solar Abboud. Bird Machine Dream
We invite you to visit the exhibition Teresa Solar Abboud: Bird Machine Dream, guided by its curator, Claudia Segura.
This project arises from the interest CA2M and MACBA have in showing Teresa Solar Abboud’s most recent work in a solo exhibition. The main idea of the exhibition is to make reference to the relationship with matter, language and bodily production through a museography that varies, changes and expands in very different ways in each institution’s space.
Teresa Solar Abboud: Bird Machine Dream establishes a dialogue between fiction and reality, and delves into narratives surrounding the process of juxtaposing new forms and plastic finishes that allude to the organic world, together with smooth and shiny industrial aesthetic finishes. Combining recent works with early projects, the exhibition reinforces the presence of sculpture with the practice of drawing —understood here as a reflection and organisation articulated around the perception and experience of the origin of each form— as well as the ideas that orbit around them.
Segura has curated and co-curated projects including To be known as Infinite: María José Arjona, Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (MAMBO), Bogotá (2018); Here the border is you, LA projects, Los Angeles (2017); Límites Nómadas, Biennial of the Borders of Mexico (2015); Fifty (Pipilotti Rist) from Han Nefkens H+F Collection, collectorspace, Istanbul (2014); Copy/Paste. Recodifying the gesture, Instituto Cervantes, London; Like Tears in Rain, Palace of the Arts, Porto, and Producing Urban Order, Goldsmiths University, London (2008).
She was the editorial coordinator of Florae 2015 magazine of Flora ars+natura, Bogotá, and writes regularly for diverse specialised arts platforms. Segura is part of various research platforms such as De Vuelta y Vuelta and Para abrir Boca.
