Building Emotions: Cinema and Architectures that Speak to the Human Condition
Activity by BARQ Festival
Encounters Between Cinema and Architecture
MACBA hosts an encounter between architect Xevi Bayona and film-maker Albert Serra, an artist in the MACBA Collection and a landmark in contemporary European art cinema.
On the occasion of Barcelona 2026, World Capital of Architecture, the BARQ festival proposes a series of encounters between architects and film-makers. Building Emotions proposes we think about how forms, spaces and fiction can move us. Film director Albert Serra brings his irreverent, provocative universe, in which fiction becomes a terrain on which to explore the most profound, ambiguous and uncomfortable side of the human condition. Architect Xevi Bayona, in his work, shares a constant search for the atmospheric, fragility and the power of spaces to move us at a particular moment. Together they will discuss how to create experiences that appeal, transform and reveal new ways of understanding our surroundings and our own humanity.
Moderator: Pau de Solà Morales. Organiser: BARQ Festival.
