Introduction to Contemporary Art Course (2014-15)
For primary school educators
This course offers a framework for interpreting some of the main artistic expressions of the second half of the twentieth century, in order provide an overview of contemporary art and dismantle the myth that it is “cryptic” or hard to understand.
Over five sessions, the course will explore production aspects and the creative process behind specific works, through playful, direct experience in the Museum galleries. There will also be an emphasis on reading and thoughtful reflection on artists’ texts in order to deepen our knowledge of the historical-cultural context that the works arose from.
Understanding the museum as a dynamic tool, a place where you can exchange ideas and knowledge with a flexible approach, facilitates the introduction in a playful and respectful manner.
