Autumn Plants: Sowing Resistances in a Time of Drought
The community vegetable patch of the Mobile Garden project proposes we meet up seven months after the first community planting activity in spring, this time to plant autumn plants with the cooperative L’Ortiga.
We’ll sow new autumn crops to go on giving life to the community plot. This time we’ll be visited by our friends from the cooperative L’Ortiga in Collserola, who will share with us their story, linked to the recovery of this mountain for farming. While we plunge our hands into the earth and learn why we need an autumn vegetable patch, we’ll find out what the ‘Reina Mora’ bean is, how we should tie up peas or why it’s so important to include rocket or other wild plants in our diet. We can also take home a little piece of the garden to plant the seed at home, too.
This event serves as an excuse for us to talk and think about everything that revolves around native seeds and harvests, and what impact the loss of biodiversity has on our diet.
