Paper, ink, coloured pencil, an ink stamp and the body. This is what Sara Gibert needed to create the series of drawings "Body Stamp / Erotic Series", made from 1979 to 1980. At that time, she was working, with ink, on the subject of imprints on different parts of the body, exploring the numerous possibilities of using an ink stamp and her own physical imprints. While in other series, such as "Hand made", Gibert registered the imprints of her hands playing different games, in this series she achieves a colourful and diffuse corporality, clearly associated with eroticism. Here, two of the artist’s lines of interest converge: on the one hand, the notion of imprint, referring in this particular case to the human body, although in other works she also refers to everyday objects such as hats, shirts, shoes and bags; and on the other hand, action art, which she practises in small performances centred on the human figure and its relationship with the cardinal points. In this sense, Gibert’s work can be linked to that of other key Catalan artists such as Fina Miralles, Olga L. Pijoan and Àngels Ribé.
